Master Dana Abbott born in San Francisco in 1956 has spent the last quarter century devoting his life to the study of martial arts in Japan and the USA. Prior to his Japanese experience he graduated from Arizona State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1978. He has taught and conducted seminars in over 30 countries. Dana Abbott's bladed weapon experience is extensive and well polished. He holds the esteemed rank of Kyoshi, in the sword art of Goshindo, obtained at the Hombu Dojo in Yokohama, Japan.

In addition to holding a 5th dan with the British Combat Association, Iain Abernethy was also awarded a separate 5th dan by the English Karate Governing Body in 2005. His joint “traditional” and “reality based” approach puts Iain in to a unique position in British martial arts. Iain regularly writes for the UK’s leading martial arts magazines and he is a member of the "Combat Hall of Fame". . . . Brett Denison sensei has been a student and practitioner of Traditional Japanese martial arts for almost 30 years and holds the level of Menkyo Okuden in Senshin-ryu Jujutsu. May 3rd 1936 in a tough coal mining town in the
County of Yorkshire, North of England. This was
pre-war Britain, and growing up as a child during
the austere war years of the 1940’s all
Henry knew was hard times and discipline as
the son of a tough coal face miner. Henry
didn't realize that this tough life with strict
discipline would stand him in good stead in the

I, Kent Fung, am a freelance writer, concentrating on financial writing. I was previously the business editor at a Boston daily newspaper and previously worked as a freelance political and commercial writer and as a graphics specialist. I have an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Chicago. Much of my spare time is devoted to learning and practicing the martial arts. Before September 11th, Antonio Graceffo was a successful investment banker working on Wall Street. In 2001 he left behind the world of high finance to pursue a childhood dream - the life of a full-time adventurer and writer. Originally from New York City, Antonio speaks Chinese, Khmer, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Thai. He holds diplomas from universities in the US, Germany, and England. Master Dane S. Harden formed his nearly life-long affiliation with the martial arts when he began studying Aikido in 1969 at the age of ten in a small program run at a local college in Frostburg, Maryland. From there he went on to train in Tae Kwon Do with the Jhoon Rhee Institute, and over the course of almost forty years, he would go on to study numerous martial art's styles, eventually earning Black Belts in Aikido, Isshin Ryu Karate, and most notably a Sixth Dan in Tae Kwon Do. He was a major tournament competitor on the U.S. National Karate Circuit from the 1970's to the early 1990's, frequently earning top rankings in both forms and fighting at the regional and national levels. Mr. Robert Hunt began studying the martial arts in 1964 and holds Black Belt rank in three styles of Japanese/Okinawan karate, as well as kobudo. He has been studying the techniques and history of Karate for 45 years and and travels throughout the United States for book signings and seminars on the history of karate and its myriad applications. John Kreng has had a successful multi‐faceted career in the entertainment industry working as a Stunt Coordinator, Fight Choreographer, Stand‐Up Comedian, Author, Actor, Video Game Designer/Producer, and Stuntman. Born in Washington, D.C., the son of the Cambodian Ambassador to the United States, John is of Chinese and Thai descent, and is fluent in Vietnamese, Chinese, and English. Mr. Lim was born into a Malayan family of Kung Fu practitioners, his uncle was Head of the Eagle Claw division of Ching Wu and his grandmother a practitioner of Lotus style Kung Fu, yet Mr. Lim began his formal training in Kyokushinkai Karate. Willy enjoyed the usual dose of injuries and through his physician, began his training in Tai Chi with Master Yo Ching-hai, a disciple of Master Cheng Man-ching. Patrick McCarthy Hanshi, is a 5th generation student of Uchinadi with an impeccable lineage of Okinawan instructors, starting with his teacher Kinjo Hiroshi and his teacher’s teacher, Hanashiro Chomo, Itosu Ankoh who preceded him, and his master, Matsumura Sokon, —historically the tradition’s most visible pioneer. A Canadian-born Australian migrant, McCarthy has studied the art of karate since childhood, and enjoyed an outstanding competitive background before embarking upon a lengthy journey as a field-researcher in Japan, where he ultimately resurfaced as a best-selling author.

Vince Palumbo commenced training in 1974
as a junior boxing and gymnastics student
at the Semaphore Youth Club in Adelaide,
and after winning most of his junior
boxing bouts, he expanded his interests
to judo at the age of 11, at the McNally’s Gym in
Light Square, Adelaide. In 1980 he began learning the martial art of Freestyle Karate at
the Zen Do Kai Bushido Dojo in Hindley

He prefers though to be addressed by the less formal and more commonplace term, Punong Guro, which is of course abbreviated by the letters PG. . . . Scott Sonnon is one of the world’s best known and most successful coaches in the mixed martial arts discipline of Russian Sambo. After living for many years “behind the Iron Curtain” as the first American to study with Russian National and Olympic Coaches, he also served for many years as the USA National Sambo Team Coach and as the International Category Referee. He is an International and Grand National Champion, who earned the USSR’s most coveted athletic distinction, the Distinguished Master of Sport.
