MASTER ROSS BRIGGS
Goju Shorei

Master Ross Briggs began his martial training at the age of nine, studying Judo at the local YMCA in Reno, Nevada. In 1970 he started Tae Kwon Do training under his older brother Tom Briggs, a Reno Police officer who had studied in Korea. In 1971, Ross met and began training with Sensei (…now Great Grandmaster / Hanshi…) Alexander Archie, a collaboration that continues to this day.
While serving in the U.S. Army, Ross created and taught the Defensive Tactics Training Program to the 82nd Airborne Military Police Company, where rose to the rank of Sergeant.
Master Briggs is currently a Godan in Goju Shorei Karate (…open hand…) and is training in Goju Shorei Weapons under Soke David McNeill. Master Briggs also holds a 3rd Dan Tae Kwon Do, under master Byong Yu, a 2nd Dan in Ju Jitsu, and is graded in several other systems.
While continuing his own Martial Enlightenment, Master Briggs share his experience with advanced students in his home dojo located in Spanish Springs (Sparks), Nevada, which he refers to as “The Tamariba” (gathering place).
Master Briggs is married, with five children and ten grandchildren.
