Punong Guro at Tagapagmana Steven Dowd
Professor Steven Dowd started his martial arts
in 1971. He was appointed by the Aguillon family upon their fathers
passing away on January 8, 1991 to represent the art of Arnis Balite.
Pundador Manuel M. Aguillon was very selective in his teachings
and often refused to teach individuals who did not have the attitude,
discipline, or the spirit to represent his families art. Being
his senior student, Prof. Dowd wish to carry on his beliefs and
the art as he would have done so himself.
Professor Dowd is the inheritor for Arnis Balite,
personal advisor for the International Kuntaw Federation, and U.S. Director for
the Kuntaw ng Pilipinas. He was also an instructor of Marhalika Kuntaw in the
1970's at Subic Bay Naval Station in the Philippines. He has taught law enforcement
self defense for the Los Angeles community college, military police, women groups
and more.
Professor Steven Dowd has authored seven (7) books
and has appeared in many martial arts magazines with over 25 articles to his
credit. He has also created over 15 websites for well-known martial arts individuals
and groups, book and magazine companies, and movie companies. Professor Steven
Dowd is a very respected man in the martial arts community and in the Filipino
cultural.
