Hall of Fame Adds Karate Teacher for Pioneering Type of Swordplay

With over 35 years of Martial Arts training Shihan VanDenover always strives to increase his knowledge and skill. He owns and operates Rising Sun Karate, opened in 1995 It is one of the most respected dojo's in the Phoenix area.
Shihan VanDenover, 7th Degree Black Belt, began his training in the art of Okinawan Shorin-Ryu in 1971 under Sensei James H. Hawkes in Albuquerque, Ne Mexico. He also worked with some of the worlds greatest martial artists.
Shihan VanDenover moved to Scottsdale in 1994 and opened Rising Sun Karate on February 11, 1995. Shihan VanDenover received his 7th Degree Black Belt on September 19th, 1998.
In an effort to increase his own marital arts and teaching skills Shihan VanDenover has studied the art of combat Kenjitsu which is taught in the form of Chanbara. Upon returning from the 25th World Championships in Yokohama, Japan, Shihan VanDenover started the United States Chanbara Association.
