ABOUT SHOGERIJUTSU
Shogerijutsu originated in the United States and
as such it is sort of a melting pot of martial arts styles. Sho
means essence, geri means kick, and jutsu means technique. Shogerijutsu
means "the essence in kicking technique", but as with
most martial arts, Shogerijutsu incorporates far more than just
kicks.
Shogerijutsu combines the basic self-defense techniques
of jujutsu, karate-do, kung fu, and kick boxing. It draws on the
philosophy of styles that represent the fundamental approach toward
self-defense and combat such as kenpo, jeet kune do, aikijutsu,
and gung fu.
Shogerijutsu is an ever changing, dynamic entity
in which students use both physical and mental, (positive thought)
forces for self preservation and combat. A Shogerijutsu student
must adapt to the thought process and learn for himself the many
ways in which to accomplish the needed task. The student is taught
the basics and then must build on that foundation. This style is
progressive and it demands that the student's attitude be assertive
and positive before he can advance in rank.
As the Shogerijutsu student progresses so does
his knowledge of the art which includes control, joint locks, throws,
combat philosophy, ranges, kata, and body positioning. Shogerijutsu
emphasizes the use of Kata technique as it applies to actually
street fighting. This style is ideal for for the individual who
wants to learn basic martial art techniques for self defense, but
who is focused as an individual.
