UFC 78 Results
For the first time ever, two winners of The Ultimate Fighter went head to head - as Rashad Evans and Michael Bisping faced off inside the Octagon. Plus, 205 lb. knockout artist Houston Alexander was put to the test as he faced the heavy handed Thiago Silva.

Rashad Evans defeated Michael Bisping in a split decision b y the judges.
Light Heavy Weight
Thiago Silva defeated Houston Alexander by TKO using by strikes at 3:25 into Round 1.
Welter Weight
Karo Parisyan defeated Ryo Chonan by unanimous decision of the judges.
Middle Weight
Ed Herman defeated Joe Doerksen by KO at :39 into Round 3.
Light Weight
Frankie Edgar defeated Spencer Fisher by unanimous decision of the judges.

Thiago Alves defeated Chris Lytle with TKO by referee stoppage due to a cut at 5:00 into Round 2.
Light Weight
Joe Lauzon defeated Jason Reinhardt by submission with a rear-naked choke at 1:14 into Round 1

Marcus Aurelio defeated Luke Caudillo by TKO using strikes) at 4:29 of Round 1.
Welter Weight
Akihiro Gono defeated Tamden McCrory by submission using an armbar at 3:19 into Round 2.
FIGHT ACTION
Welter Weight
Tamdan McCrory vs. Akihiro Gono
Round 1
McCrory pushes forward with strikes then gets Gono in a Thai clinch against the fence, continuing with additional strikes. Gono lands an overhand right to McCory. McCrory using another Thai clinch, lands a right knee to Gono's midsection. McCrory backs up dropping a combination to the Gono's head, who continues to bacs up. McCrory attacks with two more knees from the clinch. Gono gets McCrory down from the clinch and takes top position. Gono now works from side control, connects with a knee to McCrory's ribs. Solid round for McCrory.
Round 2
Gono rocks and drops McCrory with a left to the head, rushes in to try to finish and McCrory nearly catches him in an armbar. Gono now works for side control. McCrory seems to have cleared his head. Gono now gets mount, grabs McCrory's arm and rolls into a wicked armbar that has McCrory's arm backward up over his head. The referee steps in and waves off the fight. McCrory didn't appear to tap.
Gono defeats McCrory by submission using an armbar at 3:19 into Round 2.
Light Weight
Marcus Aurelio vs. Luke Caudillo
Round 1
Aurelio with a highlight-reel toss of Caudillo over his shoulder, but he's unable to capitalize, as Caudillo regains his feet quickly. They trade shots in the center of the cage before Aurelio scores a takedown. Aurelio has side control and connects with several clean shots to the head. Aurelio just teeing off, as he holds Caudillo down. Caudillo tries to spin free, but Aurelio is too strong and drops more punches and hammer fists, and the referee jumps in to call it off ... Caudillo was taking too many clean blows to the head.
Aurelio defeats Caudillo by TKO with strikes at 4:29 into Round 1.
Light Weight
Joe Lauzon vs. Jason Reinhardt
Round 1
Lauzon with a takedown and elbow to score early, spins into a rear-naked choke and makes short work of Reinhardt, who taps out.
Lauzon defeats Reinhardt by submission with a rear-naked choke at 1:14 into Round 1.
Welter Weight
Thiago Alves vs. Chris Lytle
Round 1
Lytle opens with a kick to Alves' ribs. Lytle then charges in behind a series of punches, but Alves ties him up to stop the assault. Alves counters and lands a left hook that sends Lytle to the ground. Lytle appears to have his wits about him, as they get back to their feet, but Lytle has a lot of blood on the left side of his face ... cut looks like it's over the left eye. Alves lands a couple of chopping leg kicks. Lytle connects and drops Alves, but Alves kicks him off and jumps right back to his feet. Both fighters close the round by swinging with authority.
Round 2
Pace slows a bit to open. Alves with another sharp leg kick. The cut on Lytle is a pretty deep gash over his left eyebrow, and it's open again. Alves is scoring regularly with the leg kicks, while Lytle seems to be looking to land the one big KO shot ... another chopping leg kick from Alves. Lytle connects with a right hook to the head and yet another leg kick from Alves.
Alves defeated Lytle with a TKO by referee stoppage due to a cut on eye at 5:00 into round 2
Light Weight
Spencer Fisher vs. Frankie Edgar
Round 1
Edgar shoots in and gets Fisher to his back. Edgar works in Fisher's guard but can't land a clean shot. Fisher scrambles back to his feet. Edgar gets another takedown, grazes Fisher with an elbow, but Fisher has a tight guard. Edgar continues on top, but doesn't land more than a few elbows to Fisher's ribs. Edgar gets a few shots into the face, and he lands a knee as Fisher gets to his feet. Edgar's back on top. Edgar with a right from in close.
Round 2
Fisher's face torn from Edgar's first-round work. Edgar gets a takedown and a few more shots. They get up, but Edgar sweeps and gets Fisher on his back again. Edgar with an elbow to the face ... Edgar controlling again on top of Fisher, who is now cut over his left eye. Right to the chin from Edgar ... the NJ kid is dominating this fight, with cheers of "Let's go Frankie" from the partisan crowd. Edgar has Fisher's back, but Fisher rolls away from danger as the round closes.
Round 3
Edgar opens the final round with another takedown. Edgar works for a rear-naked, but so far, Fisher defends and scrambles out. They're on their feet, but Edgar smothers Fisher, who can't get his shots off, and Edgar gets the takedown. Fisher can't do anything with Edgar and the Miletich fighter is wearing the frustration on this face. Fisher gets back to his feet, but only momentarily, as Edgar takes him down again ... a thoroughly dominating performance from Frankie Edgar.
Edgar defeated Fisher by unanimous decision of the judges.
Middle Weight
Ed Herman vs. Joe Doerksen
Round 1
After a clinch along the cage, Herman scores a takedown. Doerksen gets back to his feet, and they clinch again. They trade a few shots and Herman gets a knee into Doerksen body and Doerksen goes down again. The shots from Herman have damaged Doerksen's left eye and Doerksen is cut and bleeding. Herman got the mount. Doerksen regains guard and we see another elbow from Herman in close.
Round 2
Doerksen's left eye is a mess, black and blue with a cut over the eye. Herman took the top and delivered elbows. Doerksen rolled Herman and took his back. Doerksen looked for a choke, but Herman defended. Doerksen rolled to his back, Herman on top. Herman reversed as Doerksen attempted a heel hook, but Herman escaped. Herman connects with several shots to Doerksen's head, with Doerksen's hunched on his knees. Herman worked into guard. Doerksen gets an armbar which might have ended the fight had the round not ended.
Round 3
Fighters start the and Herman hits Doerksen with a left hook to the chin. Doerksen goes down and Herman lands a right while Doerksen is on his back. The referee steps in and the fight is over.
Herman defeated Doerksen by knockout at :39 into Round 3.
Welter Weight Karo Parisyan vs. Ryo Chonan
Round 1
From his position on top, Parisyan dictated the fight. The referee took them to their feet and Parisyan landed a left hook and throws another shot at Chonan. Parisyan picks up Chonan and slams him down. They clinch along the fence to end the round.
Round 2
Chonan catches Parisyan with an overhand right and follows with a leg kick. Parisyan grabs the leg. Chonan with a counter left to the head. Parisyan grabs a Chonan leg kick and dumps him on his back. Parisyan now works in guard. Chonan gets to his feet and has a single on Parisyan, pushing him to the fence. They tie each other up, but Parisyan sweeps into side control. Another decent, if unspectacular round for "The Heat."
Round 3
Clinching opens the round but neither fighter does much.
Parisyan defeated Chonan by unanimous decision of the judges.
Light Heavy Weight
Houston Alexander vs. Thiago Silva
Round 1
Silva tagged Alexander with a knee from the clinch. Alexander stalked Silva, who used a straight kick to keep him at bay. Alexander takes Silva down and gets a guillotine choke. Silva gets out, reverses and takes the mount. Alexander keeps him close, but ends up eating elbows. Silva used solid ground-and-pound. Silva strikes Alexander with several shots and that's it. Alexander couldn't get out from under Silva.
Silva defeated Alexander by TKO using strikes in 3:25 of Round 1.
Light Heavy Weight
Rashad Evans vs. Michael Bisping
Round 1
Swings and misses, Evans rushed Bisping all the way to the cage and eventually gets him down. Bisping works his way back up to a clinch. The refree separated them but they go straight back to the clinch. Bisping kicks with a roundhouse to the ribs, but Evans take him down. Evans punchs and follows through with a hammer fist. Evans gets side control but they scramble up and Evans has Bisping against the cage and then on to his back again.
Round 2
Evans opened with a right to the chin, then picked Bisping up dropping him on his back. Bisping worked into the guard. They exchange and Evans landed another right to the head. Bisping countered right. Bisping lands a two knees but runs into Evans and gets pushed the fence.
Round 3
Evans went back to his first-round strategy, taking Bisping down and to his back. Bisping reversed and tried to spin Evans down. They clinch against the cage and then separate to throw. Evans struck with a straight left and threw with the right and followed with another takedown. Back on their feet and an over-the-top right from Evans.
Evans defeated Bisping by the split decision of the judges.
