George Chung: Tae Kwon Do

George Chung is a former 5 Time World Karate Champion and member of the Black Belt Magazine Hall of Fame. In 1982 he founded ABK Karate Schools which became one of the largest Karate Training Centers in California spreading to 11 locations with over 5,000 active students.

During his career as a martial arts instructor, George Chung taught over 30,000 students and promoted over 1000 students to Black Belt level.

George Chung and Cynthia Rothrock ran a dojang together until it was destroyed by a fire in the 1980s. A new school was opened in Los Gatos, California and operated until 1986. Together the couple wrote the book Advanced Dynamic Kicks.

Since 1990, George Chung has been a training advisor to the San Francisco 49ers, specializing in coaching players skill movement using his martial arts expertise. George Chung was awarded a Superbowl ring for his 1994 contribution the 49ers.

George Chung is also an American actor, a businessman, film director and TV show producer.

He was the founder and Chairman of ACEI which is a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ stock exchange. ACEI created and licensed television programs and toy products globally. Under his tenure, ACEI reached a market value of over 40 million dollars and traded a record 32 million shares in one trading day.

Resigning from ACEI in 2000, George Chung started ACS Television. ACS Television produced and promoted televised sporting events around the world, including boxing, soccer, and football. ACS also produced over 100 television programs per year including the San Francisco 49ers All Access show on Fox Sports Net. Programs and promotions from ACS have been featured on Showtime, HBO, ESPN2, Fox Sports, Telefutura and Telemundo.

George Chung starred in director Leo Fong’s Fight to Win (1987) (Eyes of the Dragon, Dangerous Passages), a martial arts comedy film also starring Cynthia RothrockRichard Norton and Chuck Jeffreys. Next came Jungle Heat (1988) which was directed by Leo Fong and written by Chung and he starred with Leo Fong, Richard Norton, Cynthia Rothrock, Chuck Jeffreys and Stan Wertlieb. George and Leo Fong directed Hawkeye (1988) also written and starring George Chung, Chuck Jeffreys and Stan Wertlieb. Leo Fong and Chung teamed up again co-directing the direct-to-video film Blood Street (1988), which starred Leo Fong reprising his role as Joe Wong from Low Blow (1986). The film also starred Richard Norton, Chuck Jeffreys and Stan Wertlieb. Chung played an Elvis impersonator in the film Honeymoon in Vegas (1992).

George Chung also produced a children’s television series with Anthony Chan called Adventures with Kanga Roddy (1998- ) where Children enjoyed stories and valuable lessons as Kanga Roddy and the kids faced and resolved moral and ethical dilemmas with music, dance and martial arts.

In 2016 George Chung started JUNGO TV, a streaming  media company based in Los Angeles, California, with Nasser Kazeminy, Dr. Mehmet Oz, and Sandy Climan. As of 2023, Jungo TV owns Black Belt Magazine, Black Belt TV and Black Belt+.
