I am super excited about a project that I have been working on for a really long time. It is a step-by-step Anti-Bullying program for martial arts school owners called “Done With Bullying” that addresses not just what to do when you are being bullied, but what to do when you see someone else being bullied and why you shouldn’t bully others. As part of this program, we will also be teaching participants how to practice “Buddying”.

“Done With Bullying” is already done. I am not going to charge anything for this program, as it doesn’t feel right (at least for me) to try to monetize bullying. “Done With Bullying” will be free, in it’s entirety, to all martial arts professionals. Here is the part of the script for the promotional video that will kick off the program. I hope you all will join in.

“Bullying…It continues to be major issue. Awareness towards bullying is at an all time high, but the problem is still with us. Martial Artists everywhere, it’s time for us to take a stand. It is time to be done with bullying. Who can do it better than us. We have strength…we have the numbers….we have the knowledge. All that is left for us to do is to unite and take action. This isn’t about what style you teach. This isn’t about what association you belong to. This about tackling a real problem that desperately needs our attention. This is about giving back to the communities that have served us. Please join us. Martial Artists Against Bullying ( M.A.A.B.) Let’s do this… It’s time”

Mission
The Mission of MAAB is to enlist the international martial arts community in a unified effort to educate, inform, and help eradicate bullying. This program is designed to help children of all ages overcome the negative impact of bullying. It teaches participants:

Awareness – How identify predator behavior
Avoidance – Realistic ways to avoid being a target of bullying
Assertiveness – How to stop bullying behavior

Research shows that bullying peaks in the 5th, 6th and 7th grades. The goal of this program is to minimize the effects of predatory behavior in grade school and middle school-aged children. This will be accomplished in the “Done With Bullying” program through role playing, small group discussions and empathy training.

Martial Artists Against Bullying offers Done With Bullying Seminars
The MAAB program is a 3-4 hour “Done with Bullying” seminar. This seminar is broken up into four highly-interactive sessions. Each session can be taught as a separate class, but the program is most effective when all four sessions are done on the same day. Each session is designed to give participants realistic strategies for dealing with most school or neighborhood bullying scenarios.

The four Done With Bullying sessions are:

  • Session I – What is bullying? Why do people do it? Why is it bad to bully others? (45-60 minutes)
  • Session II – What we should and shouldn’t do when we see others being bullied? (45-60 minutes)
  • Session III – How should you deal with bullying? (60-75 minutes)
  • Session IV – Buddying (45-60 minutes)
