Vietnamese Style of Cuong Nhu

Cuong Nhu is a Vietnamese style of Karate. It’s name comes from the Vietnamese phrase for yin and yang because it combines both hard (Shotokan Karate, Wing Chun, Kung Fu American boxing) and soft techniques ( Judo, Aikido, Tai Chi and the Vietnamese style of Vovinam).

The first school of Cuong Nhu was founded in 1965 in Hue, Vietnam, by Grandmaster Ngo Dong. In 1971, while working on his PhD at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Grandmaster Dong established the first U.S. School of Cuong Nhu. Since that time, many schools have sprung up across the nation.
